Findory : Blogs

We want to change the way you read news.

How many times have you visited your favorite news site only to find a bunch of headlines which have nothing to do with your interests? How many times have you looked at the plethora of RSS Feeds and configure-your-own websites and felt overwhelmed by the choices?

That's where we come in. Our personalization technology builds a homepage for each reader, recommending content based on what they've read and what new content is being published. We crawl through thousands of news and blogs articles so you don't have to.

Anybody can promote a single news agency's content, or build an overly-complicated RSS aggregator. That's not the hard part. The hard part is finding interesting and relevant content. We want to help people find the news they need.

News, weblogs, and advertising are just the beginning. Every day, we are all subject to an overwhelming flood of information. Findory will help by providing focus and surfacing the information you need. Every information stream can and will be personalized. - Online Dictionary, Encyclopedia and much more

Oh No Robot: Search engine for comics

Oh No Robot is a search engine that relies on user transcription of difficult documents. Launched in the area of online comics, it has been a huge success, boasting over 400 members in under six months. "Before we launched, online comics could not be searched reliably", says Ryan, "due to the fact that their dialogue is graphically-encoded in an image file." Such text is practically invisible to classical search engines like Google ( and Yahoo ( Oh No Robot allows the monumental task of transcription to be distributed across users of the document, turning the problem into many small, manageable pieces, and allowing fast, scalable search solutions to be constructed quickly and accurately. Over 34,000 comics have been transcribed since launch.
